Peppers in Pacific GroveWhere in Pacific Grove to go for Dinner

Pacific Grove has dozens of great restaurants ranging from great Italian, spicy Mexican, Thai, Chinese, Pizza, French, California cuisine with a view and many more. One of the favorite restaurants in Pacific Grove is Pepper’s on Forest just below Lighthouse. Pepper’s is a great place to go for a fun and casual experience that won’t bust the piggy bank. They have traditional Mexican dishes like tacos, fajitas, chili rellenos and tamales as well as great seafood dishes including seafood paella, diablo prawns and other specialty dishes that will have you craving this place. Pepper’s serves chips and two types of homemade salsas that will get you attention with some heat but also great flavors and the guacamole is made table side.

They used to be a wine and beer joint for many years but these days they have a full bar and serve a mean margarita! Reservations are advised as there is normally a line out the door to get into this popular Pacific Grove restaurant.

The Red House in Pacific GroveGreat Pacific Grove Lunch Spots

The Red House Café is a great little restaurant on Lighthouse Avenue near the west end of downtown. The restaurant is inside a quaint little Pacific Grove historical Victorian cottage and has been a landmark since opening in 1996 with great food, service and ambiance. The menu is full of traditional lunch items like French dip, cheeseburgers and Caesar salad combined with not so traditional items like Sophia’s Nutella panini, a warmed eggplant sandwich and Dungeness crab cakes. Prices are reasonable and the experience is enjoyable. They also serve a mean breakfast, dinner and brunch on the weekends!

First Awakenings All That Razz PancakeBreakfast in Pacific Grove

There are several great places to go for breakfast in Pacific Grove, but one stands out as a favorite that has to be experienced by all. It’s First Awakenings in the American Tin Cannery Building. They are known for their great pancakes including delicious plain pancakes, amazing wheat germ pancakes, fruit and berry pancakes, specialty pancakes like the All that Razz (granola, coconut and raspberry), Raisin Walnut, or the Fresh Apple, Cinnamon and Oatmeal hotcakes. They are all made from scratch daily and are all fabulous.

In addition, First Awakenings makes great omelettes from the basic ham and cheese, the Bacado or the Works to the more esoteric Acapulco Express or the Greek Fetish. You can even get a veggie if that is what you are craving for breakfast.

Finally, their French Toast is amazing! You can get it made with Cinnamon Bread or thick sliced Texas Toast. Be sure to eat out on the patio!

Favorite Pacific Grove Bakery

The Bakery case at Pavel'sPavel’s Backerei is an incredible little bakery on Forest Avenue in downtown Pacific Grove right across the street from Grove Market. This place is to die for! First let me warn you…Get their early if you want to see all they have to offer and have the best choices as by mid-morning the line will be out the door and the good stuff will be gone!

For breakfast, their berry Danishes are amazing with real fruit and not too sweet like most bakeries seem to make them and they are crispy on the outside but tender and moist inside…Delightfully decadent! They have great bear claws, heavenly chocolate croissants, bomboloni (Italian doughnuts), chocolate chunk cookies…The list goes on and on. Their fresh baked bread is also incredible. People come from Fresno just to get a loaf of their multi-grain farmer’s bread! They have baked olive bread, cheese bread, shephard’s bread and so much more.

If you come to Pacific Grove you have to go to Pavel’s! Bring cash or a local check as they wont take your American Express…Or yor Visa for that matter…And get there early…Seriously…or you will miss out!
