The whole area was built on the music scene, and there are constant events, broadway style productions, festivals, fairs, and live music nights to enjoy. Each summer, Carmel hosts a Live Music Series, which is a ten week long concert series featuring live music (of course), food, wine, beer, and great company. Every Friday night between 5 and 7:00 PM at the Carmel Plaza, you can dance, sing along, and experience some of the best live music you could imagine.


At the Pacific Repertory Theatre, you can enjoy wonderful live performances ranging from Shrek the Musical to The Legends of Rock Tribute Concert. The Pacific Repertory Theatre has something to offer everyone. Whether you are interested in Broadway musicals, concerts, or operatic style events, you will definitely find it here.


Jazz Bash by the Bay takes place in March each year. The weekend consists of traditional jazz and swing-style music and dancing. The festival focuses on educating the audience on the many forms of jazz from early to traditional, swing to gypsy, ragtime, blues, and big bands. There are eight different performance stages that operate simultaneously. One of the stages even features the history of high school jazz bands. Admission is only twenty dollars per person.


The California Roots Music and Arts Festival takes place toward the end of May each year in Monterey. The event takes place over the course of three days and it offers live music (of course), delicious food, and beautiful artwork. Nearly fifty different musical groups perform on three different stages at the fairground. The whole festival has a reggae vibe to it–it is impossible not to feel happy and relaxed the whole weekend. Three day passes are sold for $160, whereas one day passes are only $65.


At the Pacific Grove Good Old Days festival, the city gets to flaunt its personality through music, art, and wonderful food. The festival provides live entertainment split between five different stages with a variety of music to experience. There is also a parade, activities for pets and kids, and theatrical performances to enjoy!
