Encompassing such a large region, Monterey Peninsula certainly has a large charitable background. There are plenty of charities and non-profit organizations to explore. Find your cause, and volunteer or donate today!

Here are a few key charities in the area.

Hope Center Monterey Peninsula
150A Mar Vista Drive
Monterey, CA 93940

The Hope Center has a specific focus on providing groceries to residents of the Monterey Peninsula who may not have the funds or resources to provide themselves or their families with proper nutrition. The Hope Center encourages children to volunteer with the organization, which teaches them about work etiquette, the hunger problem in our country, and of course, compassion for each other.

The Monterey Peninsula Foundation
1 Lower Ragsdale Drive
Bldg. 3, Ste. 100
Monterey, CA 93940

The mission of the Monterey Peninsula Foundation is to “enhance the quality of life” throughout the Monterey County. The success of this mission is supported by charitable donations usually raised at golf events held at Pebble Beach each year. The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am has been around, under various titles, since 1937 when Bing Crosby invited friends to get together for golf, food, and most importantly, to raise money for charities in the area. The event is very famous today, consistently recognized by the PGA Tour.

There is also an event called the First Tee Open, which is a tournament also held at Pebble Beach. That event specifically focuses on raising money for positive youth development.

Sabu Shake Sr. Charitable Foundation
Old Fisherman’s Grotto Restaurant
P.O. Box 2289
Monterey, California 93942

Sabu Shake Sr. was a loving man who is honored by his late wife and his songs, who have taken over the paths he created concerning community service and philanthropy. The boys started the Sabu Shake Memorial Fundraiser in 1999 and have since raised over a million dollars toward donations for the Salvation Army.

The sons of Shake Sr. are dedicated to building the community in a positive manner because they grew up watching their father take care of everyone around him. The foundation raises and donates money to churches, schools, and various other fundraisers throughout the Monterey Peninsula.
